Halloween Fun
Halloween is a fun time of the year. It gets even better when you have kids! For me, it gives me a great excuse to play and have fun with the crafty ideas throughout October. There's carving pumpkins, setting up decorations, planning costumes, lots more as well. My kind of fun though, just happens to be in the kitchen.
If your planning a Halloween party, or just simply want to kick it up a bit to have some fun with the kids, I will be sharing some fun little meal ideas with you. From simple Spooky sloppy Joe's to other monsters fun ideas with your foods, be sure to keep checking back!
Today I thought I'd start off with some Monster Mouths!
First and foremost, have FUN! :)
Prepared Jumbo pasta shells as directed to package.
1 med onion chopped
4 slices bacon , chopped
1 pound ground beef
2 plum tomatoes seeded and chopped
4 slices of American cheese chopped (I used shredded sharp cheese)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
Decorating items- baby carrots, small pickles, olives, peppers sliced cheese & whatever else you have on hand that may be useful.

-Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly grease a 13x9 inch baking dish.
-Heat oil in a large skillet of med. heat. Add onion and bacon, cook until onion is tender. Add beef, cook and stir about 5 minutes or until beef is no longer pink. Stir in tomatoes, cheese, salt and pepper. Spoon mixture into cooked shells. Place on prepared baking dish Bake 3-5 minutes or until hot. (I skipped the oven part, and just spooned beef into shells when they were finished cooking. I also added peppers to the beef, as well as green onions and some taco seasonings. I bet you could prepare sloppy Joe's and be able to come out with the very same thing, just be aware of more saucy mess to deal with :)
To decorate-
Cut carrots into thin strips, to use in the middle of the olives for eyes. Cut bell pepper into fang shapes for teeth. Slice pickle lenghtwise to make a tongue, and cut cheese into teeth shapes.
This is from a magazine I got, which has NO cover. I have no idea where this came from, and I've tried looking up up. No luck, if anyone knows let me know so I can post a link.
This is what I came up with, using bell peppers for arms, as well as teeth and even a tongue, olives for eyes, cheese for teeth, Peas for teeth, sweet tomatoes for eyes, and cut green beans for a tongue :) Whatever you have, try to use it with these, it's alot of fun!

These are really cute and I'm going to be at celebrating Halloween with my grand children this year so I'll take the groceries need to make them these for a dinner. They will love them.
