Make Your Own Fruit Spread

It’s easy to pick up a tub of cream cheese spread from the store, but even easier to make your. Make your own of anything means, your making it to your own likes, instead of settling for what they have in the store. My store rarely has what I want half the time anyways so when I came across a simple recipe to make my own spread I jumped all over it. Instead of only finding it once in awhile, I can have it anytime I want and the way I want it as well.  All you need really is two things, Cream Cheese, and Jam.
The one thing I must say first before the recipe is, mix the cream cheese,  your choice of preserves or jam first. Taste it then think about adding anything else if you feel it needs a little extra. I find the homemade jams I get really are all I want, the taste is perfect for me. Most of them still have pieces of fruit in the jars as well, but you can even add some sliced up ones yourself if you like that. Mix it up however you want and make it your own!
Fruit Spread

2 packages (3 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup strawberry jam or preserves of your choice ( I used raspberry)
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon butter, softened
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Directions
In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, butter and lemon juice until smooth. Now eat. 🙂 * Mine never last that long, but I have been able to keep it fresh in the fridge up to a week, not any longer with all the ingredients mixed in. With just cream cheese and the jam it can last well up to two weeks. *

This can be used as a spread and a filling, like for sweet breads(coffee rings). My kids think it’s terrific on top of cupcakes and even muffins, not to mention just spooning it out and eating it. Crazy kids, wonder where they learned that from? 🙂
Enjoy!
