Sweet Treat Friday – Fruity Drops

They taste like juicy fruit pie filling. My kids adore these things, but it takes awhile for you to spoon them all out on to the wax paper. You can use just about any fruit just or your favorite fruit puree as well, so many flavors to make! These were made from Grape juice that I made, only to turn red in the end. Odd things.

Ingredients for Fruit Drops

1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup plus 2 tsp. Clear Jel
1 1/3 cup any fruit juice or puree
1 Tablespoon lemon juice

Directions:
Mix together the sugare and Clear Jel. Add that mixture to fruit juice or the puree in a heavy pot. Cook on meduim heat until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil. Should be 5-10 minutes depending on the size of your pot. Stir constantly. Add lemon juice and boil for one minute longer, still stiring constantly. Don’t let this stuff burn or it’ll start sticking to the bottom of the pan and it will not taste very good.
Drop by small amounts (I used a 1/2 tsp measure spoon) onto wax paper and allow to set completely.

My kids never let them set though, as soon as I turn around  they spoon this stuff up so quick I have no idea if it sets completely. They look like little rounded fruit gems, and are soft, and oh so good!

I really like this recipe and the grand kids are coming! So I'll jot this down and give it a try.
