Join Teachers On The Frontline Against Hunger #Take action #NoKidHungry

With school right around the corner we’re left dealing with things that come up during the new school year.
For 1 in 5 of our kids, there’s an extra worry. Not having enough nutrition to live up to their full potential. Too often, the only meal that these children receive is a school lunch.
Principal McElhaney, from a middle school in Maryland, has seen the effects of hunger firsthand, like when, one morning, a student failed a test and told him he just didn’t care because he was too hungry to think about his school work. Like many of our heroes in the school system, he knew he had to do something.
Take a minute to watch the video and hear his story.

I'm always saddened by how many children go home from school know their next meal won't be till they return the next morning :O( Our community is doing great things to change this for as many as we can. The kids get free breakfast now matter what! Some classes even offer free afternoon snacks and anyone staying for tutoring get a snack after school. Some student take a sack lunch home with them so they have a meal. I hope more communities start seeing the need!

Well darn, I don't think my comment went through but don't want to type it again in case it did.

I think this is a GREAT post and we need to think about our kids being hungry.
