Crock-Pot Recipe Challenge Day 16 & 17: Spiced Cranberry-Apple Cider

This is a double recipe day! I made two ciders in one day, using a bit of the Apple Cider to make the Cranberry Apple Cider. They were both good but the kids enjoyed the Cranberry version better. Both are easy to make and they will be perfect for holiday parties or cold winter days.

I served the Cranberry Cider with slices of Lemons.

Apple Cider

12 medium size sweet apples
2 oranges
3 cinnamon sticks
1 tbsp whole cloves
1 tbsp whole allspice
1/2 cup of brown sugar

Method

Chop apples and oranges into large chunks. All the remaining ingredients into the slow cooker.
Fill the slow cooker with enough water to cover all of the apples. Cover and cook for 8 -10 hours.
Serve right out of the cooker or you can strain and serve in another pot. It makes about a gallon so make sure you use a big crock pot.

Ingredients

1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons whole allspice
4 sticks  of cinnamon
6 cups bottle apple cider
6 cups cranberry juice

In 4- to 5-quart slow cooker, mix all ingredients.
2Cover; cook on Low heat setting 4 to 6 hours. Before serving, remove allspice and cinnamon.
