Crock-Pot Recipe Challenge Day 29: Italian Style Penne

You can leave the sausage out of this all together if you wanted . The next time I make this I’d like to add a little cream, or possibly make a vodka sauce . It was really good.

Ingredients
4 cups chopped tomatoes ( roma keeps best shape) you can use 2 cans diced tomatoes, because of all the extra juice in the can you don’t need the entire 4 cups
1 cup cooked and chopped up bulk sausage
1/2 pound dry, whole wheat penne pasta
1 tsp. Italian herb seasoning
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
1/2 cup low sodium, chicken or vegetable broth, no sugar added
Parmesan cheese for garnish
Directions

Place the pasta on the bottom of your slow cooker insert. On top of that, pour the diced tomatoes. Then add the beans. Pour the broth over the top. Sprinkle the Italian herb seasoning, garlic and onion powder over the top and cook on low for about 2 hours.  Pasta should be cooked, sprinkle with cheese and pepper to taste .
