Crock-Pot Recipe Challenge Day 8: Brown Sugar Ham

I know many of you have been commenting saying you haven’t thought about cooking certain things in the slow cooker and I bet a ham is one on the list as well. Why not cook a ham in the slow cooker though,  it already takes awhile to bake in the oven so why not free up your time? The other good thing about this is, if you are doing a holiday dinner or planning for a special dinner for guests, you’ll have other dishes to cook. The slow cooker will free up the oven for those other dinner dishes and if that doesn’t get you, the best part is – the ham always comes out super moist!

The brown sugar and butter make the best juice to pour over the ham for serving.

Ingredients

5-6lbs smoked ham (depending on your size of a ham make sure you get one that fits)
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1 stick of butter melted
1/4 cup water

Directions

Mix the brown sugar, ground mustard, butter and water together.Place ham into the crock-pot with it’s butt side up ( flat part placed down in cooker)  Pour mixture over the ham. Cover and cook for 6-7 hours on low.

You can use a spiraled ham ( one that’s already sliced) Just make sure you face it down in the cooker, this will cut down on the chances that the side dry out while cooking.
