Homemade Lip Balm

Fall through Spring my lips get so dry I can go through chap-stick like crazy. No matter what I’ve tried it doesn’t seem to work very well, or last that long. Why I haven’t thought about making my own Lip Balm is beyond me but the recipe has been sitting around my house just waiting to be made.

It’s really easy to make and fairly quick ( just have to wait for the beeswax to melt)  You may not have the ingredients laying around though. Also on a side note, when working with beeswax don’t use anything you normally cook/bake or eat from. The leftover wax that’s left in the bowl even after pouring will just harden to the dish and it’s tough to get out. I use a separate bowl for all crafts and soaps so keep that in mind when making this.

What you will need

Small containers to store the lip balm in. I used these clear plastic cosmetic containers from amazon.

Measure spoons

Measuring cup to pour

Double broiler

Ingredients

1 cup shaved beeswax

3 tbsp coconut oil

1 tsp vitamin E oil

2 drops tea tree oil

Directions

Using the double broiler ( or simply put a saucepan over a pot of boiling water)  Melt the beeswax. Once it’s melted add in the coconut oil and melt. Remove from heat. Add in the other oils mix and begin to pour into your containers. Let sit and cool before covering.

Easy, quick and it works better than anything I’ve picked up at the store. One application lasted for hours on end even through eating. Worked on my daughters dry lips as well. I was able to get 20 5 gram containers filled
