How to change Pinterest Pin Links

You all know I moved my site, from blogger to word-press. It’s been difficult, worth the hassle in the long run, but a pure hassle no matter which way I paint it. There’s a huge hold up on new posts because there’s been issues that keep popping up.

Upon switching and locking in here with blue-host at word-press, my old links no longer work. My biggest traffic being Pinterest, I have pinners emailing me wondering if I deleted my entire site. Can you image getting an email saying ” Saw you no longer have a website but do you have this recipe?”  Yeah, not fun.

No! I haven’t obviously but what happened was the links don’t work on pins made over a year ago, or even a month ago. Now the biggest problem here is, I can’t go change other people’s links, all I can do is hope they follow the bad link, reach my site and use the search button to find what they are after then simply make a new pin. As for my links, I’ve been going through each one by one to change them, and I’m going to show you how easy it can be in case you ever find yourself with a bad pin link on your hands.

How to change a Pin’s bad link-

  • Hopefully where ever the link came from is still up and running, like my site, people come here from a bad link, then you have the option to use the “search this site” feature. So follow the link , bad or not. If the site is running, use the search feature, once you find the article/post you need copy the link in your browsers bar.  * if the link is truly bad , say it comes to a white page saying page not found, check the link address, for example-

The first part of this address is the main site. Copy paste this and hit enter. If the site turns up, search out the “search this site” feature and continue. If it does not work, the website is not running any longer. Kiss that link goodbye.

Time to head to Pinterest

  • Try not to get lost in the marvelous new pins that are popping up, this is by far the hardest part of this entire process.

  • Head into any of your boards, and click a pin, hit Edit at the top of the pin.

pin3 Here you can change the Board, the Description, Website and Location.

  • Click the Website, now you can change the address. Sometimes links stop working, sometimes some adventurous blogger hauls their site elsewhere and breaks the links. Whatever the reason for the broken link just find the one that does work, copy paste and click save. You now have a working Pin once again.

You may now get back to pinning, Pin away my friend. Pin away!
