Ice Cream , Come and Get it!

Ice cream is pretty easy to make , and it only takes  5 ingredients. Yes. 5.  Ones you can actaully pronounce, and ones you most likely have in the kitchen right now. I’m going to share the two most basic recipes, Vanilla and Chocolate. Once you can make these, you can come up with your own combinations and dress each up, but I’m telling you, it’s easy as 1-2-3.  Chocolate takes  7 ingredients but again, all in your cupboard minute the heavy cream possibly.

I added chocolate crumbles to the chocolate, so good

Yes you need an ice cream maker, but I swear it’s worth the fifty bucks for one. As long as you keep the ice cream bowl itself frozen at all times you can have ice cream in just under  3 hours, 20 minutes if you don’t want to wait at all . It’s ready to eat right out of the maker , but I like chilling for two hours .

You could spend more than fifty of course, there’s different sizes. I got the smallest that makes about 6 cups per recipe.  I bought a second bowl to freeze so I can make two batches right after another. Works for this family for now.

Ingredients
  1. 1 cup whole milk
  2. 2 cups heavy cream
  3. ¾ cup sugar
  4. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  5. Pinch of salt
Instructions
  1. Add all the ingredients to a bowl and stir. Stir until you no longer feel the sugar on the bottom, takes only about 5 minutes. Pop this bowl into the freezer and just let it chill. The colder the mixture is the quicker the ice cream is made. Take the mixture out and pour into your ice cream machine. Once it's done transfer to freezer safe bowl and let it sit in the freezer at least 2 hours.
Notes
  1. You don't have to chill the mixture before hand but I have found it takes less time in the ice cream machine if you've chilled once you make the mixture. It's easy to add things to the basic vanilla, add in fruit, chocolate syrup, little bites of cookies and or anything else that you enjoy after it's made and as you are putting it into the bowl. Do not add these items into the ice cream maker bowl as it's on.

I can never eat just vanilla or just chocolate, I don’t enjoy them along, so if I make one, the other is not far behind. Double Recipe Day!

Ingredients
  1. 3/4 cocoa powder
  2. 1/2 cup sugar
  3. 1/4 cup brown sugar ( dark is best)
  4. pinch of salt
  5. 1 cup whole milk
  6. 2 cups heavy cream
  7. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl with wire whisk. Make sure it is fully mixed in. This will take longer than the vanilla . Once it's fully mixed together place in the freezer to chill for about 15-20 minutes. Once it's chilled well take it out and whisk again, and pour into the ice cream maker following the manufacturers directions. Once it's done transfer into a freezer safe bowl.
Notes
  1. Mix in any special additions at this point during your transfer to a bowl. i.e. small chunks of chocolate, peanut butter, chocolate syrup. Or leave plain, do not add any additions while the ice cream is in the machine. Chill for about two hours before serving.
