Chocolate Cookie Dough Skillet Brownie

Ever have a day where you want both cookies and brownie? This is the perfect dessert for you! A mix of both treats into one, you have a nice balance of the fudgy brownie with the warm buttery cookie dough all in one bite. This was a really nice easy treat to make and the kids truly enjoyed it down to the last bite, I enjoyed the mix of both flavors, they paired together perfectly- but then why wouldn’t they?

While it seems like a lot of ingredients and that it would require a lot of time to make, it really is easy to assemble. Each batter takes about five minutes to put together and then you just swirl both together to make your masterpiece. About ten minutes to assemble and pop in the oven for baking.

If you don’t have a cast iron skillet you could easily sub a 9in cake pan, just make sure you grease the pan and watch the batter around 25 minutes to see if it’s finished.

Ingredients for Chocolate Cookie Dough Skillet Brownie

For the Brownie Batter
⅓ cup butter, melted
½ cup brown sugar
⅓ cup white sugar
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 large egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons warm water
For the Cookie Dough
¼ cup butter, softened
¼ cup light brown sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
⅔ cup all-purpose flour
⅛ teaspoon baking soda
A pinch salt
⅓ cups chocolate chips, divided

A little goes a long way, so one pan made 16 servings.

Heat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease an 9-inch cast iron skillet
For The Brownie Batter
In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the ingredients until well combined. Set aside.
For The Cookie Dough
In a separate medium-sized bowl, mix together the cookie dough ingredients , all but half of the chocolate chips. Set aside.
Putting it together.
Pour the brownie batter into the skillet spreading out evenly with a spatula.
Scoop the cookie dough into the brownie batter; Spreading as best you can or swirling. Sprinkle with the remaining chocolate chips baking for about 30-35 minutes. The edges will start to pull away from pan and center will be set.
Allow to cool for about 10 minutes for serving.

*Optional serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream

So tasty!

I have to wait to try this when it is not so hot outside. This winter I will be using my oven again and know this will be a favorite. I love that it is made in a cast iron skillet.
