Kick the Excuses to the Curb

Excuses .

We have all have them, sometimes even daily for some. It’s a kick in the butt when you stop and realize that You alone are causing yourself to fail the second you make an excuse.

“It’s not the right time, or I’m just not ready.”

“It wasn’t going to work out anyways”

I’m sorry what? You mean to tell me you didn’t even continue because you ” thought” it wouldn’t work out? You assumed, and so without facts or finishing you just stopped? Way to go! You just quit and made an excuse to hide from the truth! And you know what, a handful of people would even come up with an excuse for why it was they made an excuse to start with!

We have all done it, the fact is this though- If you really want something, you’re going to find a way to do it and make it happen, if you don’t , then you’ll surely find an excuse for why not. Simple as that.

Someday’s are really hard to get motivated, everyone has these days, but the fact remains, if you really want something, You will go after it and make it happen one way or another.

When you are in a down and out mood but you have your sights set on something you want, step back from things around you and really think to yourself , ” Why am I not doing what I want?”  There’s probably going to be a little grumbling to yourself at this point because you know for one reason or another there’s an excuse somewhere along the way and you let that stop you.

Now Ask yourself ” Do I really want this?” If the answer is yes, take a deep breath and go after it. Drop the excuses and take control over what it is you really want. No one else is going to do it for you, and the only person stopping You,  is You

You can do amazing things, You are amazing . Everything You want is on the other side of those excuses. Whether it’s Fear, or plain laziness making you come up with an excuse, it’s still You that made it up, not anyone else. Take control over yourself and truly go after what you want, leave the excuses behind and take action.

You never fail until you stop trying.

I totally needed that. I know what I want, but I’ve always been scared to go after the things that I want. Time for me to stop making excuses.

I love this! When people tell me that they want something but don’t want to put in the work, I kindly remind them that if they truly wanted it, they would be willing to cut the excuses and just do it!

This a great post and so true. I need to stop making excuses and start doing my workouts every single day.

OMG this is true as my son does that now with his homework. He will start something and give up as it becomes difficult for him. But when it comes to soccer he is the opposite. He will continue until he has mastered a kick or pass. This is when I tell him that when something gets hard you have to see it through.

Excuses often stand in your way when you are trying to reach your goals. You have to be able to put them aside and keep moving forward.

Truth! I can be my worst enemy. Some days can be harder than others to get started, but once you get moving it usually gets easier as you go along.

You know my big thing that I stopped making excuses about and have made big progress lately? It’s getting healthier after giving birth. I felt like I was so far from my goal, but then I stopped making excuses and I’m now 8 pounds from my weight in college. Yup, my weight in college and not my pre-pregnancy weight. I’m going ALL THE WAY back to where I should be without excuses. Now that I’m getting closer, it’s so much fun. It was a struggle though and I do have 8 pounds left to go, but No Excuses!

Great post! Excuses are just ways of not dealing with the problem, usually. If there’s something I want to make an excuse for, it makes me look in the mirror and say “what the heck!” 🙂
