Kids get into Recycling with Crafts! -Spring Globes

Jars by the dozen become containers for odd things, Craft beads, lose string, buttons, pencils. You name it, they can be used for something, somehow, somewhere. I've made them into candle holders too, mixing jars , even seed starters for sprouts. This time around for recycling some jars, I had the kids help me out to make some neat "no snow" Spring Globes.

Not all the kids wanted the grass on the bottom, it's still great with or without!

Kids Globe Project

*This project requires adult help with hot glue gun and scissors for those that are too young.

Materials Needed -

•Clean jar with lid (any size, and shape)
•Fabric flowers
•Hot glue gun
•Glitter and confetti
• Plumber's tape, also called Teflon tape.
•Scissors
•Green paper



Instructions to make the globes-

1.Turn the lid upside down. Loosely arrange the flowers on it, periodically placing the jar over the items to check for fit. You don't want them too tall or else the flowers will be hitting the bottom of the jar, so trim them down till they aren't touching the glass.

2. Use the hot glue gun to adhere the flowers and figures to the lid.
3. Add glitter and confetti to the jar before you fill with water. Fill the jar with water to within a half inch from the top.
4.Dry the rim of the jar and wrap one layer of Teflon tape around the threads to ensure a leak-proof seal. Immerse the decorations in the jar and tighten the lid.

5.Cut and fringe the green paper to make a decorative base and glue it around the lid.

 This craft would be great for any and all season, make a Fall one, Summer, even Winter one by using different flowers and even gluing some figures on the lid example - Santa :) Or anything else you want, be creative and have fun!
