Mint Lemonade
Crazy weather everywhere these days. Cold, rainy, then nice and warm, I hear people are still getting snow in some places and yesterday there was a Tornado here in Northern CA. Make up your mind mother nature!
While it is a bit nuts weather wise I’ve been working hard in the garden when ever the weather has been letting me. Spring is here ( sort of ) Summer will be here soon, so time to bust out the garden tools and get to work.
I was taking care of the mint when I wanted the drink, fresh lemonade actaully. Nothing better than enjoying some fresh lemonade while gardening . Easy to make you can enjoy some too this weekend!
Simple Syrup Recipe
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
Drink Ingredients
2 Cups water
Ice cubes
1 2/3 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons julienne mint, plus leaves for garnish
1 lemon, sliced 1/4-inch thick, plus more for garnish
Directions
In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat. Let stand until completely cool. Next, in a large pitcher half-filled with ice, add the water, lemon juice, simple syrup, mint, and lemon slices. Stir to combine. Serve over ice. Garnish with mint leaves and lemon slices , Enjoy!

Never thought of mixing the sugar with water first, but it surely would dissolve better that way. Going to try it with my sweet tea too.

I will be able to make this once my herb garden gets going, I can not wait to use fresh herbs to flavor my foods and drinks. I love that simple syrup recipe, does not get any easier than that.

I love lemonade but I prefer it plain. My Mom on the other hand would drink this like it was going out of style.

Not quite lemonade season here in Iowa (yet), but hoping for warm weather soon. Keeping this handy for when it does warm up!

We just had snow a couple of days ago, today it is in the high 40s, so I am happy about that. I make mint lemonade too. But I use stevia. So refreshing.
