A Post By Jennifer

Life has been crazy this year. I moved to NYC in 2000 to become a model/actress. Life happened and well, that didn’t. I was an extra on Rescue Me as a Stand in for Andrea Roth, then I was cast for Love Monkey and I ended up standing in for LeAnn Rimes. I then was asked to join the AFTRA  union or not work. At the time, SAG was the preferred union and there were a ton of roles you could not get if you were AFTRA, so I discontinued working, had kids, etc.

My good friend from college sent me a message in October about an opportunity to work for free on a movie close by called What Breaks the Ice. It was an overnight, meaning no daycare needed, so I went out and hung out on set with my UNO cards in hand. Being on set as background translates to hurry up and wait. There is only so much you can play on your phone before you burn through your data and battery power. I really enjoyed being on set, but it was starting to be winter and there was a lot going on. Then in February, I was super bored and started applying to more set work. I have now worked on things like Mr. Robot, The Deuce, a movie called I am Thinking of Ending Things that is a Netflix movie and a few other roles that I have signed a NDA about so I cannot even mention them. I love doing period work, as they tend to do your hair and makeup. This week I will be fitted for the 1970s, hair done like the 80s and dressing like the 90s. I have also been filling my time with BA work. For those who do not know what this is BA stands for Brand Ambassador. These are the people who hand you samples in the grocery store, they educate you on various products as well. I love doing this because I get to try so many new things and I am learning all the time, so this is fantastic! I have been a BA for a lot of big names. I was Barbie in Toys R Us, I was the Monster from Monster.com and most recently, I represented McDonalds and Toy Story 4 on Good Morning America! Getting paid and having fun is AMAZING!
Brand Ambassador work is great as it is AMAZING for Stay at Home Moms, you get to be back for the kids after school and work.
I even got to meet an author that I am hoping to work with in the near future while in the Green Room at Good Morning America. https://www.instagram.com/sallyhepworth/
Life has happened and I have missed writing for the blog and missed all the books. I am trying to balance it all; Life, kids, work and Girl Scouts. I am doing a lot of failing. I am making a lot of meals at 6am. I had to work today at noon, but needed to leave by 10am so that I could pick up some dry goods or the kids, snacks, cereal, etc. I made a quinoa, ground turkey burrito like dinner so that when I got home from doing BA work at 5pm dinner would be ready.  Tired has given an entire new meaning when working overnights to head home, shower to get your 80s hair out, quickly straighten it and get ready to get back to set, get home from set and plan dinner for family at 5am and then get back to set while setting out vitamins and downing some Nespresso to get me going. I am now overbooked, overextended, but seem still not to be able to say NO. Week is just beginning. Hopefully I will have a great book to review from set by the end of the week, if not, well you will get a great book soon to read!
Enjoy your summer and remember you really do only live once and if you don’t follow your dreams, regrets are all you will have. Only you stand in your way of your dreams.
