Back to school Celebration with Happy Cards #ChooseHappyGC
School is nearly back in session and you know what that means! Long lines at checkouts and barely there school supply bins as people race to get what’s needed on the school lists . Don’t even get me started on the lists! Some years you need 8 markers, other years it’s 10, or 12, you know I just end up getting the larger pack and say don’t use what’s not needed, simple as that. Clear glue, white glue, purple glue.
Glue is glue, the only job it has is to be sticky and stay stuck to whatever it’s used on. Yes I’ve had issues having to find the correct glue when my child was sent home due to ” this isn’t the right color glue!” ….. No I’m not kidding.
Besides the chaotic and sometimes hard to find supplies parents must deal with , there are some really great aspects of back to school time. It’s a time of new beginnings, the kids starting a new grade, new friends, new things to learn. It’s fun to watch the kids grow each year and watch them expand their minds in so many ways.
It’ll be a great year for us all ! New beginnings all around even if they seem a little nerve wrecking. Like, letting your teenage son go off and buy himself his own school clothes, or even head off to have a meal with friends on his own. Oy, how the years fly by, he’s gaining his independence , becoming more responsible, major steps for both mother and son let me tell you!
Not every parent is really keen on just shelling over cash so quickly, and I happen to be one. Mainly because he sometimes he loses the change once it’s handed back to him. What is one great way to solve this problem while still allowed him to become a little independent during a purchase? Gift Cards!
Yes! Gift cards, are a great way to allow anyone really to use at their favorite place and not have to worry about loose change, or Mom’s credit card! This way if there’s any left over on the card ( there better be!) My son can go back and use the card again when he needs too. Gift cards also have a limit, while of course they need to watch the balance, this is a great way to start teaching some responsibility about finances and not using more than you have.

I teach and some kids don’t bring in any supplies. If it’s for something we have to teach we usually buy the suppplies out of pocket. It gets pretty expensive.

I’d need a pretty big gift card to keep up with all of the glue that my daughter goes through! She’s worth it though, and I love that this doesn’t have any fees.
