Over the River and Through the Woods Book Tour

A holiday pastiche from the authors of Mindful Writers Retreat, sure to light your festive candles! From a Thanksgiving snow storm that mends old feuds… to the family misunderstandings that fuel new ones… a quirky elf and some romantic stardust will get you ready to go Over the River and Through the Woods on a journey through time! Proceeds benefit Ligonier Camp & Conference Center Home of the Mindful Writers Retreats, Ligonier, PA * My Review –  This is the second Mindful Retreat Series book I’ve had the privilege to read  and I just absolutely I adore it! Really hope that the writers get together again and put together another one of these books, it’s just so heartwarming.  This book is a collection of short stories and poems ( more stories in this one!) which are centered around the winter or holiday season. It’s great to pick up the book at any time of the day and read a new short tale. You get a different style of writing with each author, whether it be clever and funny, or serious , heartwarming or an out of this world story! It is a blast to read . There’s even a recipe or two in here- cue the need to bake while I read! There’s one for Black & White Cheesecake bars- they were delicious!  Short stories always seem to pack a punch and like the true book lover I am, it always makes me wish the stories lasted longer but they just can’t. This is what makes short stories like this collection such a treasure! Each story whether a little longer then another or short, took me along a journey I very much enjoyed. There’s some romance, some family feuds, a quirky little elf who’s all that, and a whole lot of holiday magic between these pages.  I highly recommend this book!

Into the Woods is the title and theme for this assortment of short stories, poems, essays, music, and one walking meditation. Each piece is unique in tone and genre and the result is that the collection captures the fascinating, frightening, fun, healing, and fantastical wonder of time spent in the woods.
