Stinkin’ Thinkin’ Stinks
I was recently given the opportunity to review Stinkin’ Thinkin’ Stinks by Bill King. This book is a guide geared the young audience on building healthy coping skills and mindfulness of ones actions/words. In the world of bullying and teasing taken to the extreme with some this books is full of practical information that can help our children really stop to think before they act.
Bill King’s brilliant book ‘Stinkin’ Thinkin’ Stinks’ is fun, practical, vibrant and very kid friendly. I have four kids and there’s always going to be some teasing going on, but the teasing can lead to being a bully and we’ve dealt with it both at school and home. A kid who is bullied feels torn down and it’s often very hard to build back their self esteem. This book is jammed pack of exercises and activities to help kids, help themselves. It’s a wonderful approach and one of the very best books I’ve picked up for this subject. It provides support and encouragement that will help build back the confidence lost through hurtful words or actions.
Readers as they go through the book will start to pick up on patterns of negative thoughts, find new ways to eliminate negative thinking and even how to avoid negative outlooks. I have gone through most the book with the kids and always flip back over chapters to cover what it’s all about, it’s so important to teach the kids these techniques now before it gets to be a bigger problem. Not many kids even notice that they are being negative so within this book they are given examples, and ways to catch themselves before a negative words flops out of their mouth.
Gain some new positive outlooks, develops new ways to handle a negative situation and even possibly stay a little more calm in a stressful moment. Whatever the problem, King has nailed it with the book. I love how user friendly it is, how easy it is to read for kids or for them to understand. I can read it to the kids or they may read it to themselves if they want. I like the activities which are throughout the entire book. Each one designed to get the kids thinking and working through a problems . The exercises are as well tied into each chapter and I just can’t say enough about how helpful they have been. We have a lot of problems with out oldest son being very negative and he just doesn’t understand ( or may not want to understand) how his words and actions are causing very hurtful feelings from others. This book almost seems like it was written just for him, someday I don’t know what to say and picking this book up has given me help as a parent to talk to him better. Sometimes a parent just needs a boost of help and this books has helped!
Everyone needs a little help now and then so I recommend picking the book up and giving it a good read to the entire family. Keep it handy to flip through highlight different areas and get the family discussing what they have learned out of each chapter.

It is so easy to forget how easy it is to let negative words out of your mouth – my husband and I are both guilty of having sarcastic humors with each other, and it is easy to misinterpret. I want this book for my family.

I think this is a great book because it is so important to instill these values and this tolerance in children from a young age.

I looked at their website and I like what they are doing. Promoting positive attitudes is really important and I think all of us can take something away from the message they are conveying.

This sounds like a very good book! Bullying is a horrible thing and has probably ruined more kids lives then we even know.
