Sweet Treat Friday- Homemade Graham Crackers
I’ve made crackers before but this was a new dough for me. While the other was more moist this seemed a lot more crumbly. I happened to have lost the other one though, and all I do remember was it took pastry flour. Which I don’t have. Found this one today in a small little Church cookbook and it looked simple enough.
The dough came out to be almost like a coffee cake topping, really crumbly, even after adding a tad more milk it still stayed that way, unless you grabbed a glob of it. I took the chance and just rolled it out carefully. It does crack at the edges, but you can easily form it back together. Far less fragile than it really looks and easier than pie crust in my opinion. (it’s still fragile though take it easy)
Graham Crackers
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 salt
4 Tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 Tablespoon honey
2 Tablespoon milk
dash of vanilla
cinnamon sugar.
Mix together all ingredients (but the cinnamon sugar) Place on cookie sheet and gently roll out.(I rolled it about 1/4 of an inch or less, and formed the edges so they weren’t cracked. ) Sprinkle with Cinnamon sugar and pat gently into surface. Deeply Score dough into squares.(I used the jagged edge of a pie cutter, worked perfectly.)
Bake at 375 for 8 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before cutting through crackers.
Turned out yummy! They taste very good, now I can make the smores I wanted without having to go buy any crackers at the store! ha
Enjoy!
