Creative Writing Project for the Kids!

We have been out of school since March 6th here and let me tell you it’s been up and down. While I have always been creative and very pro-active to get the kids doing things I have somewhat been brain dead with ideas up until this week. It could be that the news is blocking my creative flow, or the stress of having to rush around to four stores before 8am just to find certain items. We are all dealing with challenges at this time but I wanted to reach out to my fellow parents and hey even if you don’t have kids this could be a really fun activity for yourself!

While I was doing yoga the other morning it kind of hit me out of the blue- re-write endings!  Don’t ask how , and why the idea was during yoga, there’s a lot that cross my mind.

Have you ever watched a movie and was completely taken back from the ending? Or a story ended that left you nearly screaming at the author themselves? All along you had envisioned it ended somewhat different? Well now is  the time! Here’s is your chance! Take your favorite story , poem, or movie and re-write the ending! Our family reads a lot of books and we try to get to see new movies but books seem to take the majority of entertainment in the house it seems.

The kids this week took their favorite movie and book and re-wrote the ending in their way. It was a blast, the kids actaully worked together and wrote different stories that incorporated each of everyone’s favorite characters into their story. They had a lot of fun, and were very creative about it. While I didn’t understand the mix and flow of story-lines, ( I had only read 1 of the 3 books they referenced) they couldn’t get through reading their new creation without laughing and it was truly a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

We are all trying to deal with this new way of living, and need some support, encouragement, and positive. I will each Tuesday create a Creative Prompt for us all. Whether you draw about it, write about it, act it out , talk about it, or ” art” about it, I will post. The point is to go after something new and let go. Feel free to do whatever comes to mind and enjoy fully. Dance, sing, laugh! We all need to be there for each other , so let’s join together creatively and share !

If you join in on my Creative Prompts, I would LOVE for you to share them with us all. Tag me on my social channels, email me, or even share in the comments. I will with your permission post it on the blog! Let’s Spread some Happiness for All!
