Escape Room Game Review

Review by Jennifer We received this game as a gift from a friend for Easter.  You can get your copy here

This was the perfect gift for us in Quarantine. The game takes about 90 minutes. It takes place at the Grand Hotel. We broke out the fine crystal and dressed up for this event, as sweatpants has been quite the staple in our house. Let me start by saying my husband has a PHD and I finished a 4 year degree in 3 years, so we are by far not bottom of the barrel when it comes to intelligence. Not tooting my own horn, but….

My children are our spawn, so the apple does not fall far from the tree. We struggled with the clues and actually went in the wrong direction a few times. At the top of the room, it tells you, if you came from xx room, you are in the correct place. There is an underlying mystery here, many puzzles that are hard to solve. Some of the puzzles seem obvious, but are actually quite challenging. Each room leads you to a clue that leads to the next room. Some rooms have clues that are for rooms down the line, so you have to be cognizant of that. It started out extremely fun, but soon turned competitive. There was a logic puzzle, that turned the kids into monsters and ended up with them outside and the adults inside solving the puzzle. Maybe it is because we are clearly past thirty days in quarantine where we do not get a break from each other, maybe it is because we wake up in Ground Hog’s day and we are doing the same thing over and over. Maybe it is because we are all at our wit’s end and need a change of scenery, change of venue, change of cast of characters, or maybe because the kids didn’t get wine to go with our game. Who knows? I do know that even the clue at the bottom was very frustrating and left us looking at each other with a confused look on some of the rooms. There is a master key at the end, however we did save that for the end. I am the master at logic puzzles and know how to eliminate people, but this one surely put us to the test! It was definitely something that took a while, took our mind off being inside, being with the only people we have seen for the last 30+ days.

Good luck in solving the puzzle!
