Homemade Garlic Bread

Just recently posted a recipe for Homemade French Bread, that I had used to make French Bread Pizza with. This bread recipe can be used for a couple different things and this week I made it into Garlic Bread. Later on I plan on making it into smaller loaves to possibly make into meatball subs with! Very easy recipe.

So very easy, and since I only used one loaf for the garlic bread the other half was used a day later to go with soup! Very easy to make, and feeds a lot! I’ll be using this bread recipe for a few more ideas later on. Here is the original post on the French Bread , but I will also just retype it here with the directions for garlic bread!

Again this is very easy to make!

Ingredients
  1. 2 tablespoons rapid rise yeast ( bread machine yeast)
  2. 1/2 cup warm water
  3. 2 cups hot water
  4. 3 tablespoons sugar
  5. 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  6. 5 tablespoons vegetable oil
  7. 6 cups all purpose flour
  8. *Garlic Bread ingredients
  9. 4 tablespoons soft butter
  10. 4 tablespoons minced garlic
  11. 1 tablespoon onion powder
  12. pepper to taste
  13. 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  14. Italian seasonings
Instructions
  1. Pre-Heat Oven to 375
  2. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 warm water, let it sit until it's foamy. In a large standing mixer bowl combine the hot water, salt, oil and 3 cups of the flour. Add in the yeast mixture to flour mix. Mix and add in 1 cup at a time the remaining flour until well combined. You should have a good soft/firm dough that isn't sticky to the touch. If it's still way too sticky mix in half a cup of flour or more until the dough is ready. Place dough on slightly floured surface and knead dough for about a minute, place back in the floured bowl and cover with towel to let rise for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  3. Divide the dough in half on lightly flour surface and roll out one half at a time to a good 9x12 rectangle. Roll up jelly roll style ( long way) and place long way on a greased cookie sheet. Repeat with the other half of dough and place on same pan. It's best to leave a 2 inch space in the center between the two loaves. Score each loaf 3 times with sharp knife across the top. Let sit another 30 minutes with towel over to keep warm or until it's doubled . Bake at 375 for about 30 minutes or until golden brown and or knife inserted comes out clean.
  4. *Garlic Bread Directions -- Once the bread has cooled cut one loaf open and lay each side next to each other. ( you can use both loaves but that's alot of garlic bread on your hands! ha) Take your butter and spread it over both halves of the loaf. Sprinkle with garlic, onion powder and cheese. Top with pepper to taste and italian seasonings . Bake on cookie sheet for about 20+ minutes at 375 or until the cheese is melted and to your liking. Slice and enjoy!
